Employment in the Historic Naval Ship Fleet
President/CEO Old Dartmouth Historical Society - New Bedford Whaling Museum
The Museum is the largest museum in America devoted to the history of the American whaling industry, its greatest port and the region that was home to the largest whaling fleet in the world. The Museum is the cornerstone of the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park and operates from two buildings located in the heart of New Bedfords historic downtown. The Bourne Building houses the majority of the collection including the skeleton of a sperm whale, the Lagoda, an 89 foot half scale model of a whaling ship, and invaluable art and artifacts from around the world. A second building serves as the library and was purchased to house research material from the Kendall collection, which was acquired in 2001, and the research material from the Whaling Museum.
